Close Curtains and Blinds at Dusk
By the Maurvia team · October 14, 2026 · 1 min read · Energy
When the sun goes down, windows become one of the areas where the most heat escapes from your home. A gesture as simple as lowering the blinds and closing the curtains helps maintain the interior temperature.
At night: close
- Lower blinds and close curtains at dusk, especially in the rooms you use.
- Thick or lined curtains help more than very thin ones.
- Also close the windows in rooms you are not using.
During the day: open
On sunny days, take advantage of the sun's light and heat: open blinds and curtains in the morning, especially on south-facing windows. It's natural light and free heat.
Be careful
- Do not cover radiators or ventilation grilles with curtains: heat must be able to escape into the room.
- If you have humidity or condensation on the windows, ventilate for a while each day.
Create your routine
Turning it into an end-of-day ritual makes sure you don't forget: dinner, lower blinds, turn on the lamp. A simple habit that you can pair with tracking household expenses in Maurvia.
