Air Dry If the Weather Cooperates
By the Maurvia team · October 12, 2026 · 1 min read · Energy
On dry, somewhat breezy days, hanging laundry to dry can be sufficient without resorting to the dryer. The key is to choose the right time and place.
Outdoors
- Take advantage of dry days, with sun or a bit of wind.
- Hang clothes in the morning to make the most of the brightest hours.
- Some dark or delicate fabrics can lose color in direct sun: hang them in the shade or inside out.
Indoors
- Choose a ventilated area to prevent humidity and condensation.
- Open the window for a while or ventilate the room afterwards.
- Do not hang clothes directly over radiators if the manufacturer does not recommend it.
Tips for Faster Drying
- Spin according to what the label of each garment indicates.
- Shake items before hanging them.
- Hang them stretched out and separated so air can circulate.
- Hang shirts and dresses on hangers.
Check the Label
Some garments should not be hung or need to be dried flat, such as many wool sweaters. And if you use a dryer, follow the manufacturer's manual.
